World War II Vet Dies On ‘Honor Flight,’ Returning From Memorial In D.C.

Frank Manchel, 95, got to leave this world on his own terms and on a high note. He passed away on the final leg of a trip sponsored by Honor Flight San Diego, a nonprofit that gives World War II veterans all-expense-paid visits to Washington, D.C. Surrounded by fellow patriots and accompanied by his son, Manchel was happy and laughing in the last moments of his life and he knew that many people honored him for his World War II service.

Two physicians aboard the chartered American Airlines flight tried to resuscitate him after he collapsed, but Manchel died before the plane landed at San Diego International Airport. “It was almost instantaneous,” said Dave Smith, founder of Honor Flight San Diego. “He was laughing, chatting, having a good time — and then he collapsed.”

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the Manchel family,” said Honor Flight San Diego Chairman Julie Brightwell in a statement released Monday. “It was our privilege to honor this true American hero during his final hours.”

Manchel came from Michigan and he was an Army technical sergeant during the war. Last Friday, he flew from San Diego with 82 other veterans and their “guardians,” family members and other volunteers who help the elderly soldiers, sailors, and fliers during their visit.

From Military.com:

“Last weekend’s trip was Honor Flight San Diego’s 14th journey, and it followed the by-now standard schedule. On Saturday, the veterans visited the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, the Navy Yard’s museum and other sites with historic significance.

“On Sunday, the group toured a military electronics museum before taking a bus back to the airport for the flight home.

“Although the days were packed, Manchel was able to enjoy a mini-family reunion. He was accompanied by his son, Dr. Bruce Manchel. Manchel’s 93-year-old brother, Jerome, came to D.C. from his home in Michigan with his son, David. Another of Frank Manchel’s son, Howard, came up from Atlanta.

“Shelley Zimmerman, the former San Diego police chief and the daughter of a World War II veteran, was on the trip as a “guardian,” a volunteer who helps smooth out any difficulties for the elderly visitors. Chatting with the Manchels on Saturday, she was struck by the senior veteran’s upbeat mood.

“He was 100 percent engaged, proud, humble — as these veterans are,” Zimmerman said. “You could just tell how proud they all were of him. It was just wonderful, a loving, loving family.”

“On the return flight, Manchel signed a World War II book for another guardian. About 1:30 p.m., an hour before the flight’s scheduled arrival in San Diego, Manchel stood up and then fell to the floor. His son and another doctor rushed to assist him.

“They tried to do CPR for over 12 minutes,” Smith said.

“Manchel, though, was unresponsive and never recovered. Chaplains prayed over the body, which was then draped in an American flag.

“As the plane began its descent into San Diego, Zimmerman turned to Dr. Manchel.

“If you are up to this,” she said, “to honor your father, let’s sing ‘God Bless America.'”

“The son agreed and soon the entire plane was filled with emotional, choked-up voices raised in patriotic song.

“As the other veterans filed out of the plane, each saluted while passing their fallen comrade. Zimmerman oversaw Manchel’s removal through the rear of the plane, following protocol for a dead police officer or member of the armed services. The body was carried through a cordon of medical personnel, firefighters and law enforcement officers, saluting as Manchel went by.

“My father’s passing was the ending to the most amazing weekend, surrounded by his newest best friends,” said Dr. Manchel in a statement released Monday. “We thank all of you — Honor Flight San Diego, American Airlines, San Diego International Airport, friends, and supporters for your concern and for allowing the weekend to be so special for all of us to share together.

“Frank passed quickly and peacefully, and the compassion and respect that that was shown to our family will always be treasured. May he rest in peace as he is now with his other beloved son Jimmy.”‘

Manchel was the first veteran to die while on an Honor Flight San Diego trip, but six other deaths have occurred during Honor Flights originating in other cities.

Manchel is owed one more, posthumous, flight. American Airlines has offered to convey the late veteran’s remains and any family members to Michigan, where the family plans services and burial at no cost. But his final flight in life will always stand out for those who accompanied, honored and loved him.

WATCH: Actor Jon Voight Wipes Off Seats For Gold Star Families

Published

I have always had a soft spot for actor Jon Voight. I love the way he acts and I adore that he is conservative and not ashamed of it. A video has come out showing Voight wiping off seats for Gold Star families at President Donald Trump’s “Salute to America” celebration. It went viral and fast. Voight is all Hollywood should be – he is indeed a national treasure.

Gold Star families are the relatives of U.S. military members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the battle for our freedom. They gave everything they had so we could live the way we do and Voight recognizes that and respects it. “While Hollywood Elites protested President @realDonaldTrump’s ‘Salute to America’ on July 4th,” captioned Michael Hahn, “Here’s a video of John Voight cleaning the rain off seats for Gold Star families. This is what it’s all about!”

Jon Voight is one of the very few voices in Hollywood that has spoken up in defense and support of President Trump. In May, he posted a viral video to his Twitter account declaring Trump “the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.” I think it is safe to say he really, really likes President Trump.

Voight has supported Trump from the very beginning. He spoke a number of times at various events during Trump’s inauguration, including during the inauguration concert, during which he declared, ‘God answered our prayers.’” And that wasn’t the last time the respected actor has said that either.

From The Daily Wire:

“In fact, on Tuesday, Voight posted another video similar in flavor: “Our nation is stronger and wiser because we have taken a chance on a man who has become the greatest president. I’m honored to call him President Trump,” he told his followers.

“My fellow Americans, I stand with you and the truth of our nation, with great pride and honor. I say this truly from a place of God’s truths. Our nation is stronger and wiser because we have taken a chance on a man who has become the greatest president. I’m honored to call him President Trump,” said Voight, as reported by Yahoo.

“And as we come closer to 2020, let us track all the magnificent documentations that have been signed, sealed and delivered to this country and its glory. We must continue this race of truths and stand with President Trump for his next win. Because this is more than win; this is not a sacrifice. This is God’s honor, God’s trust for this nation. For this land of liberty. For justice for all,” he continued.

“This is America, this land of the free,” added the actor. “This is our president, Donald Trump, that will set the nation to be the greatest land of peace and love … and great again. God bless.”

“Twitter users were pleased with Mr. Voight’s gesture, replying to the video, “More class than 90% of Hollywood elites,” and, “He is a humble man. Hat off for him.”

“Another Twitter user wrote, “Great work Johhny! Couldn’t you also see other Hollywood actors like Johnny Depp & Leonardo DiCaprio do this? Neither could I.”

“Way to go Jon Voight! Finally a decent and caring for his Fellow Man celebrity. U have better odds of winning the lottery than finding another one,” said one woman. “God Bless Jon we appreciate ur patriotism and love for ur country and countrymen.”’

It is deeply moving to see someone of Jon Voight’s stature bend a knee to wipe off the seats for these families. It puts a lump in your throat and brings a tear to your eye. Not only because it is patriotic, caring, and selfless… but because we see it so seldom these days. Which is just unbearably sad.

80-year-old Oscar-winning Jon Voight was videoed holding a roll of paper towels and working with other volunteers to dry off the chairs that would soon be occupied by Americans who have sacrificed so much. It wasn’t a photo-op or staged… which made it even more moving.

This is what true patriotism looks like. Hollywood should take note and be deeply ashamed that they aren’t fit to shine Voight’s shoes much less fill them.

General Hospital Star Asks Ivanka If Her Daughter’s New Puppy Is A Nazi Yet

It seems that the left can’t ever stop their lunatic behavior. Here we have a woman who we’ve never heard of claiming to be a star. She wants her 15 minutes.

It’s amazing how the left connects having a dog to being a Nazi and that America never had a border until President Trump got elected. This is how stupid these people are, folks.

These people are getting worse every day. Their hatred for Trump literally has them foaming at the mouth. This psychotic behavior is only strengthening our side. Just wait until the landslide victory in 2020.

Via Breitbart:

Soap star Nancy Lee Grahn reiterated her disdain for the Trump family in a tweet posted Sunday, smearing White House Senior Advisor Ivanka Trump as a Nazi after she posted a picture of her family’s new dog, Winter.

Trump tweeted a photo of her family’s newest furry addition – or what she called “Arabella’s birthday dream come true” – in a tweet to her 6.7 million Twitter followers Saturday. Grahn pounced and went on the attack.

“How darling. I see you skipped a rescue and went straight to an Aryan breeder. Does it sit and sieg heil yet?” Grahn said, making a clear Nazi reference.

The General Hospital star has long been an outspoken opponent of the Trump family. Last week, Grahn called Trump an “evidenced lunatic” who has “mortifyingly not been impeached yet” due to Republicans in the Senate.

Last month, the Santa Barbara actress came under fire after posting a picture of kids in migrant shelters wrapped in aluminum blankets and blaming it squarely on the Trump administration. Some social media users, however, quickly noticed that she cropped out the date, hiding the fact that the photo was taken during the Obama administration.

“Trump administration is forcing children 2 sleep on cement floor with an aluminum blanket & lights on all night,” she tweeted. “Sarah Fabian from DOJ argued in court that it was good enough & soap was unnecessary. Companies making 750 a kid a day to torture them.”

Grahn eventually admitted that the photos were taken during the Obama administration but refused to back down.

“Had I noticed that, I would’ve clearly realized that it was from the Obama administration because he, unlike Trump, didn’t have a policy of separating children from their parents. Only a monster would do that,” she tweeted in part.

Trump signed an executive order ending family separations last June, telling reporters: “We’re going to have strong, very strong borders, but we’re going to keep the families together.”

“I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated,” he added.

Despite the cries from Grahn and other left-wing celebrities, the “cages” the left frequently refers to were set up and utilized by the Obama administration.
