Brett Kavanaugh was sailing to a nomination when last week out of the complete blue, Senator Dianne Feinstein said that she was in possession of a letter from a woman who said in highschool Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her.
While these allegations are very serious one has to consider the timing and consider all of the information.
This is a woman who has said nothing of this to anyone for over 35 years. Feinstein says that she has been in control of this letter since July, but never said a word until the eve of the vote that would have made Kavanaugh the next Supreme Court Justice.
Monday two women from his past came forward to tell their story.
CNS News reported:
Two women who dated Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in his younger days say they don’t believe the allegation of sexual assault levied against him this week on the eve of his Senate confirmation vote.
The two women, Maura Fitzgerald and Maura Kane, appearing on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Monday, both said everything they’ve known and seen of Kavanaugh over the years belies the claims of Christine Blasey Ford, who made the accusation that a drunken Kavanaugh assaulted her 36 years ago when he was a minor in high school.
“I was absolutely shocked. I just couldn’t believe it, it was just so polar opposite of the Brett Kavanaugh that I have known for over 35 years. I was confused, surprised, shocked and I still can’t believe it,” said Maura Fitzgerald, who had dated Kavanaugh in high school.
Not only was Kavanaugh “always in complete control” when alcohol was around, “He’d be the guy to look out for other people” who were drinking, Fitzgerald said. She called Ford’s accusation a “travesty,” because “He’s been nothing but honest, and trustworthy and respectful” in all the years she’s known him.
Maura Kane, who dated Kavanaugh in college, echoed Fitzgerald’s conviction that Kavanaugh could never have done what Ford alleges, based on both her life’s experience with Kavanaugh and, because she saw “woman after woman” at the hearing attest to his character and respect for women:
“I couldn’t believe that these allegations had come out, when I had been at the hearings for a couple of days and we just watched woman after woman come forward praising Brett and his respect for women and his professionalism and his kindness towards them – and, then, this, at the last minute, came out. I was equally shocked.”
Fitzgerald and Kane are just two of the 65 women who signed a letter to Senate leaders attesting to Kavanaugh’s character. And, even though others have not made media appearances, they all stand firm in their support of Kavanaugh, Kane said: “Everyone stands by the letter…they’re just avoiding the media frenzy.”
“He’s telling the truth,” Kane declared, expressing confidence that the last-second effort to smear Kavanaugh will fail:
“I’m concerned that this is even happening at this stage in his hearing, after he went through so much. But, he is smart. And, he’s telling the truth. And, I think in the end, it’ll be alright.”
It’s concerning the level of attacks that the desperate left will do to keep Kavanaugh from the Supreme Court. Corey Booker just a week before these allegations came out, read classified documents to the media in an attempt to derail Kavanaugh’s bid for the highest seat in the court.
I think it’s important to note the number of people coming forward to attest to Kavanaugh’s character and especially women who knew him and dated him in those young years.
In the end, this hail mary attempt will likely fail and he will be voted in as a Supreme Court Justice. But who knows what the left will throw at him next.
