Trump’s Reaction To 9/11 As Private Citizen Says Everything About His Love For America

President Trump gave a very moving speech on 9/11 yesterday. It was the kind of heartfelt, patriotic speech we have not heard in many years. Trump was in New York City when 9/11 happened and it deeply moved him.

Trump’s reaction to the 9/11 terrorist attacks while he was still just a private citizen, says everything about his love for this country. After those horrific attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, Donald Trump campaigned to have the structures rebuilt with one major modification.

Long before Trump would stun the world and become President of the United States, he desperately wanted to rebuild the World Trade Center one story higher to rub the faces of the terrorists in the greatness of America. In 2005, Trump wanted to make a strong statement that would show our enemies that we would not back down as a nation.

President Trump ardently opposed the Freedom Tower that is now a fixture on the infamous Manhattan skyline. “If we rebuild the World Trade Center in the form of a skeleton — Freedom Tower — the terrorists win,” Trump said in a speech. And he was right. I feel that way and I bet a large part of America does too.

“It doesn’t represent what we want to have represented. What I want to see built is the World Trade Center stronger and maybe a story taller, and that’s what everybody wants … We should have the World Trade Center bigger and better” he said later in an interview. That is vintage Trump and that is the American spirit in a nutshell.

It took many years to even get the Freedom Tower built and that is not the American way. We built the Empire State Building in just over a year… there’s no excuse for taking this long to rebuild. And in the end, as Trump said, it should have been bigger and better. That’s the American way.

And even though Trump’s desires and statements on rebuilding the Twin Towers are out there, the media keeps saying that Trump lies about 9/11. If you listened to Trump’s speech yesterday, you know in your heart that Trump cares very deeply about what happened that day. Which is more than you can say for a number of Democrats and the media out there.

In 2015, Business Insider had this to say about Trump wanting to rebuild the towers:

“In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which occurred 14 years ago Friday, real-estate mogul Donald Trump became the most prominent backer of a plan to rebuild Manhattan’s World Trade Center.
Trump, the current front-runner in the Republican presidential primary, lent his support to the effort in 2005. Among other things, he made media appearances during which he blasted the proposed Freedom Tower that was eventually built on the WTC site as “disgusting.”

“It doesn’t represent what we want to have represented. What I want to see built is the World Trade Center stronger and maybe a story taller, and that’s what everybody wants,” Trump said in an appearance on MSNBC. “It’s just terrible what’s happened in New York. … We should have the World Trade Center bigger and better.”

“The proposal to rebuild the Twin Towers, which were destroyed on 9/11, was the brainchild of structural engineer Ken Gardner. He created a plan to rebuild the buildings five stories higher with more modern safety features. Gardner’s proposal also included a 9/11 memorial, made with panels from the original towers.

“In an interview with Business Insider Friday, Gardner said Trump reached out to him after seeing his model for the project, which he dubbed “Twin Towers II.” Gardner had been discussing the plan on MSNBC and Trump encountered his model when he went on the channel for an unrelated interview.

“He just realized, like most of the public did at the time, that that was the solution,” Gardner said of Trump. “It was just based on, in Israel, whenever a building was destroyed by terrorists, they put it back. And in this case, since the building was as old as it was, we were putting it back, but a modern version of it.'”

That leaves no doubt about what President Trump wanted and what he thought would be the right course of action here. He wanted to make a bold statement that America can’t be defeated and comes back bigger and better every time. The Israelis and Trump have it right… our leftists have it dead wrong.
