President Trump told a group of reporters at the White House over Christmas Day when they could expect the government to reopen: when Democrats meet him halfway on border wall funding.
Trump said he could not specifically say when Democrats will be willing to do so, but clarified that he would not budge on the decision and that he would keep the government closed until they cave.

The president admitted to being ok with less than the $5 billion he initially requested but said he needs “a wall, a fence, whatever they’ like to call it” before he is willing to reopen the government.
“I can’t tell you when the government is going to reopen … [Not until] we have a wall, a fence, whatever they’d like to call it. I’ll call it whatever they want. But it’s all the same thing. It’s a barrier from people pouring into our country,” Trump reportedly said to a group of reporters, via the Daily Caller.
“It’s a barrier from drugs. There is a problem in this world today called human trafficking … We are not going to let that take place. We are working so hard to catch these traffickers. They are bad people. We can’t do it without a barrier, we can’t do it without a wall,” Trump continued.
From the report:
Incoming acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney warned it is “very possible” the partial government shutdown will run into 2019, as Trump insists funding for the border wall must be included.
The two parties will have to figure out an agreement, and the senators must be present for a vote on the Senate floor to send a bill to the president to sign and end the government shutdown.
As ABC News reports, Trump claimed he has the backing of some government officials who are personally being affected by the shutdown.
“Many of those workers have said to me and communicated, ‘stay out until you get the funding for the wall,’” Trump claimed.
“These federal workers want the wall,” he added. “The only one that doesn’t want the wall are the Democrats.”
“It’s a disgrace what’s happening in this country,” Trump concluded. “But other than that, I wish everybody a Merry Christmas.”

Bernie Sanders: “There Is No Middle Ground,” ‘We’re Going To Stop Using Gas & Coal’
Gotta love when Millionaire communists lecture you on what you can and can’t do. Good thing he will never be elected President!
Via The Daily Caller:
2020 candidate and self-described democratic socialist Bernie Sanders said that the United States has to stop using gasoline and coal, and that “there ain’t no middle ground” on the issue.
“It is no secret that we must transition away from fossil fuels, period. End of discussion. There ain’t no middle ground…There is no middle ground,” Sanders said during a speech Thursday in California.
The Independent Vermont senator released a climate plan Thursday modeled after the “Green New Deal” that called for $16 trillion in new spending to fight climate change.
A key part of the plan is “Justice for frontline communities,” which refers to “under-resourced groups, communities of color, Native Americans, people with disabilities, children and the elderly – to recover from, and prepare for, the climate impacts, including through a $40 billion Climate Justice Resiliency Fund.”
Sanders’ plan, which is modeled as a “Green New Deal,” also targets “environmental racism.”
“The Green New Deal must serve to address modern and historical inequities and environmental racism,” it reads.
Sanders has sought to separate himself from the field of other 2020 Democratic contenders by proposing far-left plans on a variety of issues.
On health care, Sanders supports a “Medicare for All” style plan which would eliminate private health insurance plans and give free health care to illegal immigrants. Continue Reading
Bernie Sanders Says His $16-Trillion Green New Deal-Like Plan Will Create 20 Million Jobs
Via Daily Caller:
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders introduced a $16.3-trillion plan similar to the Green New Deal on Thursday, which he says will create 20 million jobs.
The plan aims to make 100% of energy for U.S. electricity and transportation renewable by 2030 and have “complete decarbonization” by 2050, according to its outline.
Bernie Sanders just spoke at a rally in downtown Sacramento. Trump supporters showed up & they didn't attack or beat anyone. They just politely discussed their political beliefs with those in attendance. Wonder if MSM will cover that. @realDonaldTrump @DonaldJTrumpJr @Scavino45 pic.twitter.com/e1e8gAbZPW

“As President, Bernie Sanders will boldly embrace the moral imperative of climate change and mobilize the political will necessary for a wholesale transformation of our society, with massive investments in sustainable energy, energy efficiency, and a transformation of our transportation system,” his plan reads.
