Russia is now being selective on who they allow in from the U.S. after complaining about a political ‘blacklist’ that we use to keep certain Russians out as well. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) revealed on Monday that the Russian government has officially denied him a visa to travel to the country as part of a bipartisan congressional delegation. Of course, Russia, in turn, called him a liar but Russia is known for doing exactly this kind of thing.
Johnson, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, was scheduled to meet with a variety of Russian officials and civil organizations, but was ultimately barred from entering the country over legislation that he sponsored aiming to “hold Russia accountable for its aggression to Ukraine.” John Bolton is currently in Ukraine giving them our support against Russia and China.
“The path [Russian President] Vladimir Putin has chosen for Russia is a tragedy of historic proportions. Instead of holding free and fair elections, respecting the rule of law, and integrating Russia’s economy with Western democracies, Putin has invaded Georgia, attempted to illegally annex Crimea, conducted war in eastern Ukraine where thousands have died, and supported a barbaric regime in Syria that has used chemical weapons on its own people in a war that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands,” Johnson said in a statement.
“Eventually, a new generation of leaders will emerge in Russia. Working with [United States] Ambassador Huntsman, I had hoped direct dialogue with Russian parliamentarians could help set the stage for better future relations between our two nations,” he continued. “Unfortunately, Russian officials continue to play diplomatic games with this sincere effort and have denied me entrance to Russia. Regardless of this petty affront, I will continue to advocate a strong and resolute response to Russian aggression – and frank dialogue when possible.”
MoC are frequently asked to visit Israel to “see things for ourselves.”
But Netanyahu choosing to ban the only 2 Muslim women in Congress from entering tells the US that only *some* Americans are welcome to Israel, not all.
Trump is exporting his bigotry &making matters worse. https://t.co/PFdMDxuIfJ

From The Daily Wire:
“Russia’s decision to deny entry to Johnson comes only two weeks after Israel ignited a media firestorm by blocking Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from entering the Jewish state.
“Both far-left congresswomen have been intensely critical of Israel, even introducing legislation promoting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is considered by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to be “the most prominent effort to undermine Israel’s existence,” and the Israeli Knesset consequently passed an anti-BDS law in 2017 that blocks foreign activists from gaining entry into the country.
“Following Israel’s decision to bar the freshmen duo, Democratic lawmakers and members of the left-wing media slammed Israel. Both Tlaib and Omar subsequently attacked the Jewish state for its “inhuman” treatment and further accused the country of being “oppressive” and “racist.”
“Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) came to the defense of her fellow “Squad” members, even going so far as to accuse Israel of discriminating against women of color.
“[Members of Congress] are frequently asked to visit Israel to ‘see things for ourselves.’ But Netanyahu choosing to ban the only [two] Muslim women in Congress from entering tells the US that only some Americans are welcome to Israel, not all,” Ocasio-Cortez said at the time. “[President Donald] Trump is exporting his bigotry [and] making matters worse.”
“However, despite their outrage over Israel’s decision to block members of the United States Congress, they have remained silent on Russia’s decision to block a member of the United States Congress.
“Neither Omar, Tlaib, or Ocasio-Cortez’s office responded to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.”
Office of GOP WI Sen Ron Johnson says “he has been denied a visa by the government of the Russian Federation to enter Russia as part of a bipartisan congressional delegation.” He “planned to speak with a range of Russian government officials..civil society organizations..”

I’m not surprised that “The Squad” is silent on a Republican being denied entry into Russia. They have a narrow political agenda and could care less about what does or doesn’t happen to a conservative. It should be noted that a Democrat was denied entry as well. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) was also denied a visa and I did not hear them raise concern over that development either.
A third senator, Republican Mike Lee of Utah, is planning to travel to Russia next week but hasn’t had his visa granted or denied yet, a spokesman said Tuesday afternoon. I sincerely doubt his visa will be granted as he is a staunch constitutional conservative which is basically taboo in communist Russia. This is not the first time Russia has denied visas to U.S. lawmakers either.

“Those revelations were quickly followed by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats arguing to Trump that “under no circumstances” should Putin be allowed to take part in the meeting of the leaders of major industrial nations. In 2014, Russia was expelled from the organization, then known as the Group of Eight, after illegally annexing Crimea.
“Murphy warned in a statement Tuesday morning that denying visas to members of Congress could further stymie dialogue between the United States and Russia. He emphasized that it’s in the world’s best interest to prevent conflict between the two countries.
“Unfortunately, the Russian government is further isolating their country by blocking our visit and several others in recent months,” Murphy said. “ With the collapse of recent arms control agreements and significant domestic opposition to Vladimir Putin’s authoritarian rule, this is potentially a perilous moment for our two nations’ fragile relationship.”
“Lee is scheduled to meet with outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman, Jr., in Moscow next week, Lee’s spokesman said. Huntsman is a former governor of Utah.”
We have long been calling on the #UnitedStates🇺🇸 to remove lawmakers from any travel restrictions as a first step towards abolition of «blacklists». #BTW the senator did not apply for a visa at our Embassy and did not inform about his plans to visit @Russia🇷🇺 https://t.co/SQLA4uvKPh pic.twitter.com/RQXBHozJg0

And yet, even with Schumer raising a ruckus here (because a Democrat was involved, mind you), the silence from “The Squad” is deafening.
“The path Vladimir Putin has chosen for Russia is a tragedy of historic proportions. Instead of holding free and fair elections, respecting the rule of law, and integrating Russia’s economy with Western democracies, Putin has invaded Georgia, attempted to illegally annex Crimea, conducted war in eastern Ukraine where thousands have died, and supported a barbaric regime in Syria that has used chemical weapons on its own people in a war that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands,” Johnson said Monday.
Yes, it is and will eventually lead to war. I wonder how silent “The Squad” will be when that day comes.
