TV star Mike Rowe is known for being a hard-working, blue-collar American. The former star of the reality show Dirty Jobs took to Facebook Thursday to post an NPR article to Facebook on Thursday that took note of the significant number of growing vacancies in high paying skilled labor jobs in various trade vocations.
Yet high school graduates continue to go into massive amounts of debt signing up for 4-year college degrees they may never use and may not be able to pay for. Naturally, the article also included commentary from Rowe himself with the post as is the norm. Yet it was not well received by one woman who is apparently part of the perpetually offended club. She perceived Rowe’s pro-“hard work” mantra as some sort of attack on higher education and a public shaming of those who choose to attend university.
Dawn Baker posted in response to Mike Rowe –
“Is it your intent to make those who choose college to feel ashamed, lazy and brainwashed? Our country’s education system is under attack, and you seem to be supplying more ammunition to those attacking it……There’s a reason many of these jobs pay well – they are truly HARD WORK – physically hard. Dangerous hard. Mentally hard. Feel free to send reps to the local unemployment office and brow beat them to send people to these jobs. Whether you mean to or not – your are sending a very bad message to those who want to destroy our higher education system.”

Ummm NO. Rowe posted again on Friday in an attempt to rectify any possible misunderstanding of his post and the accompanying article. He stated to his followers – “Yesterday, I posted an article that dared to question the universal wisdom of pushing everyone toward a four-year degree. The article reached 3 million people, and not everyone was pleased.”
Rowe went on to agree with Baker regarding higher education being under attack… sort of.
Rowe explained – “You’re right — our countries educational system is indeed under attack. But the attack is from within, and the wounds are self-inflicted making note of recent examples of the failures of the higher education system such as the so-called “cry closet” at the University of Utah, and Fresno State professor Ranga Jarrar slandering Barbara Bush as a racist witch in the hours after her ***** and bragging about her tenure.
Rowe then continues with –
“Point is, Dawn, the hypocrisy in our educational system is rank, the bias undeniable, the disrespect for our flag ubiquitous, and the entire ‘safe space’ mentality the exact opposite of what life is like in the real world. Higher education has created its own PR nightmare,” he wrote. “Is it any wonder parents are trying to figure out if their kids should be sent into such a lopsided environment? Is it any wonder reasonable people are beginning to question the value of a four-year degree?
Tuition has increased at two and half times the rate of inflation. Nothing else this important has ever done that. Not real estate, energy, food, even healthcare. The question is why? Is the quality of education two and half times better than it was thirty years ago? No way. Are universities turning out more graduates? Hardly. Fifty percent of those who enroll don’t even graduate. Do people have more disposable income today than they used to? Of course not.
No, universities have been able to raise their prices partly because too many parents believe that anything less than a four-year degree will doom their kid to a less productive existence, and partly because we’ve pressured millions of kids to borrow whatever it takes from a bottomless pool of unlimited money that doesn’t really exist. The result? One and a half trillion dollars of student debt, 6.3 million jobs that no one wants to do, and millions of college graduates who can’t find work in their chosen fields — but lack the skill to do the kind of jobs currently available. The kind of jobs you deem, ‘hard work.”
Summing up his point, Rowe told Baker that his “intent is not to make those who choose college feel ‘ashamed, lazy or brainwashed.’ My intent is to remind people that a university is not the only place to enrich your mind or prepare yourself for the real world. Nor is it necessarily the best place. It’s merely the most expensive. Other options exist, including those offered through my scholarship fund. Please feel free to apply, should your position at Oregon University ever vanish. Or, should you one day conclude that work is not the enemy.”

Ocasio: ‘I Was Joking About The World Ending In 12 Years’
Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is now claiming that she was only joking when she said that because of climate change the world will end in twelve years. In fact, she says everyone with two brain cells knows she was only kidding. Except of course all the kids who became activists because of her videos on the subject and her repeated charge that it was indeed true.
The young socialist proceeded to mock the Republican Party for taking her claim about the end of the world seriously, which she suggested was a combination of “dry humor + sarcasm.” Right… it fell flat so now she is trying to pretend she never meant it. Typical. “This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and ‘fact check’ it. Like the ‘world ending in 12 years’ thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from The Office so who knows,” wrote AOC in a tweet published on Mother’s Day. Evidently, she believes all her acolytes are idiots for believing her.
Ocasio-Cortez first addressed the topic back in January at a Martin Luther King forum in New York City. At the time, she was not joking when she said it either. Those in attendance gave her a roaring round of applause and then she emphasized the point by calling the fight against climate change “our World War II.”
“I think the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we’re like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,” stated Ocasio-Cortez. “And your biggest issue, your biggest issue is how are going to pay for it? — and like this is the war, this is our World War II.”
This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it.

Not only has Ocasio-Cortez repeated her apocalyptic climate change vision over and over again… she has collaborated with The Intercept to create a video centered around the claim. “Climate change is here + we’ve got a deadline: 12 years left to cut emissions in half,” she captioned a tweet promoting the video last month.
The video was entitled: “A Message From the Future with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” and it pictured a future where AOC’s widely-panned and uber-expensive Green New Deal has inspired action to save the planet. In the video, she again says that we have a “12-year deadline.”

The Daily Wire reported at the time:
“The congresswoman then warns that we have “twelve years to change everything” before “hundreds of millions of people would be more likely to face food and water shortages, poverty, and death.”
“Twelve years to change everything,” she narrates. “How we got around, how we fed ourselves, how we made our stuff, how we lived and worked — everything. The only way to do it was to transform our economy, which we already knew was broken.”’
Climate change is here + we’ve got a deadline: 12 years left to cut emissions in half.
A #GreenNewDeal is our plan for a world and a future worth fighting for.
How did we get here?
What is at stake?
And where are we going?

More from The Daily Wire:
“Moreover, as reported by The Washington Free Beacon, Ocasio-Cortez doubled-down on her 12-year declaration during an Instagram live-stream when a viewer mocked her over the claim.
“We have twelve years left to cut emissions by at least 50 percent if not more,” Ocasio-Cortez, visibly annoyed, told her viewers. “For everyone who wants to make a joke about that, you may laugh, but you’re grandkids will not, so understand that the internet documents everything.”
“She then went on a tangent about looking back in history books of the civil rights movement and seeing the white people holding signs against allowing black people to vote,” the Beacon noted.
“They would hold up these bigoted signs and they would hold up signs that said things like ‘What about white rights?’ and all of this stuff in the 1950s and 1960s, so just know that in the present day there are a lot of people who hide the fact that their families and that their grandparents fought against principles of equal rights in the United States, not 100 years ago, not 80 years ago, but in this generation’s lifetime,” said the elected rep.
“While a lot of people can hide that their grandparents did that in the civil rights movement, you should also know that the internet documents everything and your grandchildren will not be able to hide the fact that you fought against acknowledging and taking bold actions on climate change,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “People who are trying to mock and delay this moment, I mean—I just feel bad for you. I just pity you for your role in history right now.”‘
For some reason GOP seems to think this is a gaffe, but it’s actually a generational difference.
Young people understand that climate change is an existential threat: 3,000 Americans died in Hurricane María.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) January 22, 2019
Ocasio-Cortez was not kidding when she made her claim. She got many young people and activists to join her in her ‘the sky is falling’ mantra… New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is among them. Virtually every 2020 Democratic contender supports her Green New Deal and her claim of global doom. So, she just called all of them morons as well.
She wasn’t joking when she made her claim but she was lying just as she is now. Perhaps Nancy Pelosi whispered in her ear that if she values her political career that she should tone it down and back off of this climate nonsense. It’s right out of the Democratic playbook.

Kamala Harris: I Will Take Gun Dealers’ Licenses Away With Executive Action If Elected
Sen. Kamala Harris is once again vowing that she will use executive powers to enact gun control measures if Congress fails to act in the first 100 days of her presidential administration. That’s breathtakingly unconstitutional and all but tanks her chances in a presidential bid. We may have literally just dodged a Second Amendment bullet because of her arrogance.
“I’m proposing, one, that if by my 100th day in office when elected president of the United States, if the United States Congress fails to put a bill on my desk … then I’m prepared to take executive action because that’s what’s needed: action,” Harris, a California Democrat, and 2020 hopeful, said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.
The first time Harris voiced her intentions on the issue was at a CNN town hall in late April. But she reiterated it on Sunday after yet another school shooting. This one involved a transgender shooter with an illegal immigrant felon for a father and a young hero… 18-year-old Kendrick Castillo who was killed after rushing the gunman to save his classmates.
“We are not waiting on tragedies and we are not waiting on good ideas,” Harris said, pointing to the “heroism of a child who we now mourn his loss, his parents’ only child.” I’m surprised she didn’t attack ‘thoughts and prayers’ as well here. Castillo’s parents probably hate her using their deceased son as a political pawn – his fellow students walked out of a vigil because of that same offense involving Colorado Democratic politicians.
From The New York Post:
“When asked how she liked Sen. Cory Booker’s (D-N.J.) proposal for a federal gun registry she answered, “I like the idea. But, Jake, I’m going to tell you, on the issue of the need for gun safety laws, we’re not at any loss for good ideas. People have been having good ideas for decades on this issue.”
“Booker is also vying for the White House.
“Harris said that the country was waiting for Congress to act.
“If she was forced to take executive action, Harris said she would require those who sell more than five guns a year to do background checks.
“She would also have the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives take away licenses from gun dealers that don’t follow the law.
“Harris also expressed support for government intervention in dealing with Facebook. Co-founder Chris Hughes said Thursday that the social network should be broken up.
“Asked by Tapper if she agreed with Hughes, Harris answered, “yes, I think we have to seriously take a look at that, yes.”
“I mean, when you look at the issue, they’re essentially a utility. Like, there are very few people that can actually get by and be involved in their communities or society or in whatever their profession without somehow, somewhere using Facebook,” Harris said. “It’s very difficult for people to be engaged in any level of commerce without – so, we have to recognize it for what it is. It is essentially a utility that has gone unregulated. And as far as I’m concerned, that’s got to stop.”’
Harris also tried to walk back that she wanted to do away with private health insurance. She explained that while she supported Medicare-for-all “it doesn’t get rid of all insurance.” “It was in the context of saying, let’s get rid of all the bureaucracy. Let’s get rid of all the waste,” she said concerning her previous remark.
Harris said the Medicare-for-all bill she supports “doesn’t get rid of supplemental insurance.” That bill would also give healthcare services to illegal immigrants. Tapper asked if this meant Harris supported giving healthcare to illegal immigrants. “Let me just be very clear about this. I’m opposed to any policy that would deny in our country any human being from access to public safety, public education or public health, period,” Harris answered.
And she figures taking away guns and the license to sell them is in the interest of public health evidently. The woman simply cannot open her trap without lying and trying to take away our constitutional freedoms.
