Melania Just Surprised U.S. Troops With Their FIRST Christmas Present – It’s INCREDIBLE

First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence both volunteered to work with the American Red Cross to put together Christmas military comfort kits for our boys and girls serving overseas. I can’t remember the last time I saw something like that happen. It means the world to our military and to Americans. The packages are going to Iraq, Poland, Djibouti, and Kuwait.

Melania, Karen and other spouses of secretaries in the Trump administration, along with military families, Elizabeth Dole and volunteers packaged popcorn, peanuts, playing cards, toiletries, hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and tissues. These are small items that mean a great deal to those serving in foreign theaters overseas. They even included a special holiday message in every package showing Melania and Karen’s appreciation for all they do. IJR has more on this heartwarming story:

U.S. first lady Melania Trump and U.S. second lady Karen Pence volunteered together to help the American Red Cross assemble military comfort kits for military troops who are serving overseas.

At the Red Cross Hall of Service in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Trump and Pence packaged items with cabinet secretaries’ spouses, military families, Elizabeth Dole, and other volunteers — items included popcorn, peanuts, playing cards, toiletries, hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and tissues.

CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller shared the special message that is placed in each package showing the first and second ladies’ appreciation for service members — which will be sent to those deployed in Iraq, Poland, Djibouti, and Kuwait.

“We joined the spouses at the Red Cross Hall of Service in Washington, D.C., to pack this kit as a way to honor your service. It is a token of appreciation from home during this Christmas season and an expression of our country’s deep respect and gratitude for your military service.”

“We stand with you and extend our best wishes for a joyous Christmas and happy New Year,” the letter concluded.

Speaking at the event on Tuesday, Trump expressed her gratitude for those in uniform who “sacrifice daily to protect not only the American people but our freedoms and way of life.”

“Our prayers remain with all those serving overseas and for the families who wait for them to come home.”

The first lady shared that the packages are “one small way that we can say thank you and honor the sacrifices that members of the military make year-round.”

“This is such a wonderful time of year and we are honored to open the People’s House to the public so that families from all over the country can join,” Trump said mentioning the reveal of the White House Christmas decorations.

“As we begin this Christmas season, which traditionally means spending time with loved ones, I believe we should also take time to remember all that we are thankful for as a nation.”

The first lady’s idea for this year’s Christmas at the White House has a patriotic design with the theme of “American Treasures.”
