Those who have experienced communism and socialism first-hand many times are the most ardent fighters against it. First Lady Melania Trump grew up in a socialist country. She delivered an address on President’s Day in Miami, Florida and addressed Venezuela’s plight. She denounced the “oppression of socialism and communism” while declaring “hope” for the people of Venezuela. She also visited Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami for the unveiling of a healing garden.
Melania introduced President Trump to a crowd of primarily Venezuelan-Americans in Miami. They roared their approval and waved Venezuelan flags. She asked Americans to “pray together” for the people of Venezuela, who “are on the brink of reclaiming their own liberty.” That they are and hopefully, kicking out Maduro the communist dictator.
Of course, Maduro has already stripped the gold from Venezuela and he has sent it to Cuba with the help of Russia. There are Iranian, Russian, and Chinese troops on the ground in Venezuela, along with the Cubans. Melania knows that and so does President Trump and John Bolton. There will either be regime change in our backyard or war.
“It is wonderful to be here today in the beautiful city of Miami,” Melania said. “The president and I are honored to stand with all of you as we together we support the people, the great people of Venezuela.”
“I am proud to be here with you in the United States of America as your first lady. Many of you in the room know what it feels like to be blessed with freedom after living under the oppression of socialism and communism,” she continued.
“In Venezuela, the people are on the brink of reclaiming their own liberty,” the first lady said. “Today, we must let the Venezuelan people hear us all with one, united voice. There is hope, we are free, and we pray together loudly and proudly that soon the people of Venezuela will be free as well.”
“My husband is here today because he cares deeply about the current suffering in Venezuela.”
First Lady Melania Trump, herself, is a native of Slovenia, a former socialist state of Yugoslavia before gaining independence in the early 1990s. She was born in 1970 in Slovenia, where she faced the difficulties of war and oppression.
Her surprise appearance comes as tensions in Venezuela continue to grow amid an ongoing struggle for power between the country’s former president and the current interim leader, Juan Guaidó.
From The New York Post on President Trump’s address in Miami:
“President Trump on Monday rallied support in the largest Venezuelan community in the United States for opposition leader Juan Guaidó, saying Venezuela’s current path toward democracy was irreversible — and would pave the way for similar breakthroughs in Cuba and Nicaragua.
“This will become the first free hemisphere in all of human history,” Trump said at Florida International University in Miami during a campaign-style event, with the crowd cheering Trump and chanting “USA! USA!” and “Trump! Trump! Trump!”
“The president offered a passionate attack on socialism and a full-throated defense of democracy in an address that at times seemed aimed at his progressive Democratic foes in the US, such as New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
“There’s nothing less Democratic than socialism, which always gives rise to tyranny” he said, calling the system “a failed ideology” that “shut down free markets, repressed free speech” and “destroyed the rule of law.”
“Socialism, he said, was on the decline throughout the region while democracy was growing stronger.
“A new day is coming in Latin America,” Trump said after being introduced by his wife, Melania. “In Venezuela, and across the Western Hemisphere, socialism is dying, and liberty, prosperity, and democracy are being reborn.”’
From Trump’s lips to God’s ears. Let it be so. Obama killed off the Monroe Doctrine… it looks like President Trump is reinstating it. Trump strongly supports Guaidó. He recognizes him as the country’s rightful president after he declared that the job was his. Trump also condemned President Nicolàs Maduro’s government and its socialist policies.
President Trump is urging Venezuela’s military that has backed Maduro to not stand in the way of a peaceful transition and to allow humanitarian aid to cross the border from Colombia.
“There are members of the Venezuelan military still supporting this failed dictatorship, risking their future, risking their lives and Venezuela’s future, for a man controlled by the Cuban military and a private army of Cuban soldiers. The eyes of the entire world are upon you. You cannot hide from the choice that now confronts you,” Trump said, adding that military brass had “no easy exit, no way out, you will lose everything.”
Finally, a president who gets that communism and socialism in your backyard acts as a deadly contagion and must be eradicated. That’s the mark of a true leader… my hat is off to President Trump.
