Dems Float Hail Mary Letter To Sink Kavanaugh – Strassel, Intercepts It, Takes A Match & Lights It On Fire

I have come to expect nothing but falsehoods, obstructionism, and downright manipulation from California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Ever since she foisted that ridiculous assault weapons ban she came up with years ago, I’ve had next to no use for her. That distaste intensified a hundred-fold after her connections to the Chinese were unearthed.

Feinstein issued a statement yesterday that alluded to a letter she received that allegedly raised concerns about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. It supposedly had to do with some girl he knew in high school. When I first heard it, I laughed out loud and wondered to myself just how desperate the Dems must be to pull this stunt.

I’m not alone. Kimberly Strassel of the Wall Street Journal poured cold water on it as well. The letter reference was very vague, but it is said to contain an allegation of some instance of misconduct involving Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school. Kavanaugh has stridently denied it.

There are a number of things that are wrong with Feinstein’s statement as you would imagine. Strassel enumerated them and made excellent points.

Strassel’s first tweet reads, “On Feinstein’s referral of a letter with an accusation against Kavanaugh to the FBI: — This is impt enough to be sent to FBI, but not impt enough to have been raised before now? Can’t be both. NYT reports she got the letter this summer.” In fact, the FBI is now saying they are not even looking into the matter.

Strassel is right… if the letter has existed since at least this summer and she thought it was damning enough to gin up an FBI investigation, why wait to pounce on it? You would think she would have given it to the authorities immediately if for nothing more than to smear Kavanaugh.

Strassel’s second tweet reads, “–similarly, this is impt enough to be sent to FBI, but never shared with a single Republican charged with advice and consent? — Feinstein statement explicitly acknowledges that the accuser did not want to take this further. So why is it with the FBI?” Again, a very good question. If it were a valid charge I think she would have shown it all over the place and why would she not do as the accuser asked?

Strassel’s last tweet reads, “–timing here cannot be ignored. Coming only after Democrats were unable to further stall a vote. — and just to be clear, Ds and media are now using a secret letter with a secret accusation from a secret person, to try to take down Kavanaugh. Scary.” Kind of sounds like all the ‘anonymous sources’ leaking over President Trump doesn’t it?

The letter was only made public after the Democrats threw all they had at Kavanaugh. Looks like their Hail Mary failed and Strassel took a match and set it on fire. Sucks to be them. The problem for the left is that President Trump is now in charge and this crap is not going to fly like it did under Obama. It will take something a lot more concrete than a secret letter with a secret accusation from a secret person to sink Kavanaugh.

Feinstein’s play was simply pathetic. She should be ashamed of herself. Even leftists are laughing at this one.

Matt Zapotosky at the Washington Post quoted an FBI official as saying: “Upon receipt of the information on the night of September 12, we included it as part of Judge Kavanaugh’s background file, as per the standard process.” He also reported that the agency was not opening a criminal investigation into what Kavanaugh may or may not have done as a high school student.

Of course, Feinstein could always investigate Kavanaugh for putting a dog on top of his car ala Mitt Romney. I mean she tried to use the old high school damning tactic like they did on Mitt. Give it up already. This is just embarrassing.

Zapotosky also tweeted this, “Here’s an explanation of what that means. The FBI backgrounds White House employees and nominees, & gives the White House a file on what they’ve found. But the FBI doesn’t decide whether the person gets a job/nomination. The White House does that, w/ the info in the FBI file…” Kavanaugh received a background check and the White House already had this silly info.

Whatever happened or didn’t happen back then, it must have amounted to a whole bunch of nothing because Kavanaugh was never gone after. He’s been married for many years and is a family man. Kavanaugh’s record is spotless and he’s a man of faith. The whole story sounds manufactured to me and is a delay tactic.
