Nike’s new ad campaign for “Just Do It” that uses Colin Kaepernick as their social justice warrior and the new face of their brand is getting massive blowback and rightly so. They seem to have forgotten who truly sacrifices in this country and it isn’t those such as Kaepernick. The ad campaign is a slap in the face to police, military, and first responders.
Gino Fisanotti, Nike’s vice president of brand marketing for North America, told ESPN, “We believe Colin is one of the most inspirational athletes of this generation, who has leveraged the power of sport to help move the world forward.” The tone deafness here is stunning.
Now, the Fraternal Order of Police is stepping forward and speaking out against Nike’s 30th-anniversary ad campaign. The FOP has over 325,000 officers with over 2,100 chapters across the country. So, that’s a pretty loud voice.
Chuck Canterbury, who is the national president of the Fraternal Order of Police, even went so far as to defend Kaepernick and Nike’s right to do as they please regarding freedom of expression. Immediately following that, however, he made it abundantly clear what police think of that expression in a formal statement.
BREAKING: Nike had been paying Colin Kaepernick all along, waiting for the right moment. That moment is now, as he becomes the face of the company’s 30th anniversary of the “Just Do It” campaign. pic.twitter.com/uccpDStbq5

From the FOP:
“Colin Kaepernick and all Americans have the constitutional right to freely express their views, even if they are uninformed and inflammatory. Indeed, law enforcement officers have an obligation to defend these rights and we do so every day, even in those cases when the views expressed are hostile, hateful or offensive to the men and women of law enforcement.
“The Fraternal Order of Police has been called upon to boycott Nike for capitalizing on this former professional football player because he attracts controversy. In our experience, boycotts and similar exercises do not succeed and often serve only to enrich the company—which is not what we want to do. Our members and, for that matter, any American citizen, understands when the law enforcement profession is being insulted—we have no doubt they will make their purchases with that insult in mind.
“If Nike chooses to create an ad campaign featuring a former quarterback who describes cops as ‘pigs’ and makes large donations to the family of a convicted cop killer and wanted fugitive, Joanne Chesimard, who murdered New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in cold blood in 1973, they are free to do so.
“Since 2016, 381 officers have been killed in the line of duty. They believed in something and sacrificed everything, as did the families they left behind. All of the men and women in law enforcement believe in something and are prepared to sacrifice everything.
“Ultimately, this ad campaign will end and our nation will no longer associate ‘sacrifice’ and ‘sneakers.’ Instead, we will once again associate ‘sacrifice’ with our fellow Americans in our military and police departments who stand in harm’s way to protect the rest of us and our right to express ourselves.”
In August of 2016, Kaepernick told Steve Wyche of NFL Media, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Nike’s Kaepernick ad features his face with the slogan, “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
Kaepernick has sacrificed nothing and has made millions throwing a ball around. He makes even more money by supporting communists and radical groups. There is nothing noble or admirable about Colin Kaepernick.
Police put everything on the line for us daily and many of them give up their lives doing their duty to serve and protect. The ad also insults the service and sacrifice of our veterans. The FOP may not boycott Nike, but I certainly will and so will many Americans over this.
This deal with Nike will make Kaepernick millions and he will become even more famous. This is a guy that supports cop killers like Joanne Chesimard and radical groups such as Black Lives Matter. He wears shirts that sport Che and talks about racial oppression and social justice… but I have yet to see that he has sacrificed anything of merit yet.
The response against Nike over this has been thunderous. But hey, at least Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad supports Kaepernick, “The #NFL season will start this week, unfortunately once again @Kaepernick7 is not on a NFL roster. Even though he is one of the best Quarterbacks in the league.#ColinKaepernick #NFL.” One wonders if Mahmoud even watches football because it sure doesn’t sound like it, but I bet he wears Nike.

Tom Brady Yells ‘Reagan, Reagan!’ During Super Bowl And The Responses Are Hilarious
In one of the coolest moments in football history (as far as I’m concerned), New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made an unusual call during a play last night during the Super Bowl. Brady stepped to the line of scrimmage during the third quarter of the Super Bowl on Sunday night, took one look at how the Los Angeles Rams’ defense was squared up and decided to change the play right then and there. And it set social media on fire all over again.
Brady could clearly be heard on a microphone invoking the name of President Ronald Reagan. “Reagan! Reagan!” Brady yelled. I was already rooting for the Pats but they won my heart forever right then and there. How insanely cool is that? After the snap, he handed off the football to running back Sony Michel, who ran toward the right for a 4-yard gain, SB Nation reported.
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo commented that Brady’s call must have meant “run to the right.” And just like that, the New England Patriots became the official team of the Republican Party. President Trump is loved by Brady and Belichick, as well as others on the team. It would seem that Reagan is held dear as well.
You gotta love the Pats trolling the left in the Super Bowl. Epic. The blue checkmark crowd on Twitter came unglued after this on both the right and the left. Good times.
- “I love it,” one Twitter user noted. “Tom Brady shouted Reagan Reagan, and then they ran to the right. I officially love Tom Brady, and the Patriots are officially the team of the Republican Party.”
- “Tom Brady just called ‘Reagan Reagan,’ which according to Tony Romo means run to the right,” another added. “I now concede that Tom Brady is the GOAT.”
- “CNN Breaking News: Tom Brady yells Reagan Reagan before play. 12-person panel has been assembled to discuss Brady’s clear racism,” another joked.
“Of course Reagan means run to the RIGHT”
— PARIS (@PARISDENNARD) February 4, 2019
Liberals, however, were not amused:
- “Y’all still hype up Tom Brady as if he isn’t a racist trump lover???” one Twitter user asked. “Did y’all not hear the Reagan thing either??? Or are we choosing to ignore those things???”
- “OF COURSE Tom Brady would have an audible named after Ronald Reagan,” another noted. “God I hate Tom Brady.”
- “Ronald Reagan and Tom Brady are both pieces of s**t,” yet another succinctly put it.
Tom Brady calling out “Reagan” as a play name is so politically fraught.
— Josh Gondelman (@joshgondelman) February 4, 2019
The Conservative Tribune posited a very believable reason for the call:
“Third, the Patriots have often been known to thumb their noses at decorum and have no problem running a score up or rubbing their opponents’ faces in the dirt to send a message. It would not be a stretch at all to consider “Reagan” an overtly intentional play call given how much flak Brady, Patriots coach Bill Belichick, and team owner Robert Kraft have gotten from the left about their association and friendship with Trump.”
The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl 13 to 3 much to the horror of leftists across the nation. It was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history. Corbin Smith of The Daily Beast who wrote that the Patriots are “the preferred team of white nationalists,” must have stroked out over it.
This is Brady’s unprecedented sixth NFL championship. And Reagan lives on. Go Pats!
Tom Brady just yelled “REAGAN!” To call an audible. I assume that’s where the tight end goes in motion and “Trickles down” the side line
Thanks everybody you’ve been a great crowd

I feel like Tom Brady shouts about Reagan off the field too.

Brady used "Reagan" as an audible and I thought they were going to try to drug all the black players

Daily Beast: Patriots Are ‘Preferred Team Of White Nationalists’
The Daily Beast’s author Corbin Smith really went off on the New England Patriots before the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for him, the Pats won. In a very weird, racist screed that just oozed anger and hatred, Smith called the Patriots fans Team MAGA,” the living manifestation of “MAGA scum,” and, perhaps most stunning of all, “the preferred team of white nationalists.” He also called Boston a racist city for what it is worth. Boston is no such thing and neither are the Patriots.
Smith said that Patriots fans were complicit in the white nationalism and he really went after Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick, and the team owner Robert Kraft. He calls them all “supporters” of President Trump. Smith referred to Brady as “unnerving” because at a rally he led a chant of “we’re still here.” Smith claims Brady is a “square-jawed grifter throwing red meat to the hogs at an alt-right rally, screaming at the libs who thought Nancy Pelosi and her gender warriors were gonna keep DECENT AMERICAN FOLKS from BEING HERE.”
Their star quarterback, coach, and owner all supported Trump. But that’s not the only thing that makes the Patriots the preferred team of white nationalists https://t.co/C1KnQNXa9b
— The Daily Beast (@thedailybeast) February 3, 2019
“This past weekend, the Super Bowl-bound New England Patriots held a rally for their sweatiest fans at Gillette Stadium. Brady gave a speech. It ended… unnervingly.
Brady leads a “We’re still here” chant then flings the mic.
— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) January 27, 2019
“WE’RE STILL HERE! WE’RE STILL HERE! Obviously, Brady is referring to his aging, decrepit, cheating-ass squad’s progression to the big game. But, imagine you didn’t know anything about football, or who Tom Brady was, or anything like that. You would think that you were watching some square-jawed grifter throwing red meat to the hogs at an alt-right rally, screaming at the libs who thought Nancy Pelosi and her gender warriors were gonna keep DECENT AMERICAN FOLKS from BEING HERE.
“Of course, even if you do know stuff about Brady you may still think he’s on his way to pursuing this line of grifting. He flashed a red MAGA hat, an accouterment that is gaining more and more traction as a symbol of white nationalism in America, in his locker back in the primary days. He wasn’t the only one! Patriots’ Coach Bill Belichick wrote a goddamn letter to Trump right before the end of the campaign that basically amounted to an endorsement, that Trump then read on stage. And Pats’ owner Robert Kraft is also his pal, and was even shouted out at Trump’s pre-Inauguration dinner in D.C. for his most deep-pocketed donors.”
This passes for “journalism”? Who at the Daily Beast would let this appear? The media truly doesn’t understand how it continues to undermine itself. https://t.co/gYfoQT21CZ
— Ari Fleischer (@AriFleischer) February 3, 2019
This was another part of Smith’s twisted argument:
“The whole institution of Boston sports, from root to stem, is tinged with the sort of racism that brought Trump into office. The Boston Red Sox were the last MLB team to desegregate, more than a decade after Jackie Robinson entered the league. The Sox’s first owner, Tom Yawkey, was an infamous racist whose speech was peppered with racial slurs. Larry Bird became a symbol of white resentment during his time in the NBA, his jersey appearing as a symbol of white entitlement to black spaces in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing. His large teammate, Kevin McHale, was spotted at a Trump rally during the election.
“Look, it doesn’t matter if the Patriots like it or not, they are the official team of American White Nationalism, the MAGA Boys On the Field. You can’t implicitly or explicitly support Trump, who reads speeches written by Stephen Miller as a matter of course, play in a market whose sporting culture is renowned for its racism, have a decade-plus organizational obsession with undersized white receivers, and be called, no shit, the Patriots, without getting the vile Fox News Soup that poisoned half the country on your shirt. Try to put on a bib of distancing yourself, deflecting questions, telling everyone your wife told you to stop talking about it, that shit isn’t gonna work. You’re the MAGA Kid. It’s on you forever. It stalks and haunts you.
“When you root for the Patriots, you are associating yourself with a virulent and revolting strain of politics that seeks to Make America Great Again—which is to say, white, European, English-speaking. And look, I understand if you’ve been rooting for Boston teams your whole life. Fandom is a hard drug to quit. But please, look at yourself, look at who these guys put out for, and reconsider. Think about if you would want to find yourself in a crowd of sweaty, white men chanting WE’RE STILL HERE while a Trump supporter egged you on. Are you one-hundred percent sure you’re comfortable with that?”
“But why do more and more normal Americans dislike the hard working, selfless, daring firefighters of democracy known as journalists?” they asked, without irony https://t.co/fX4bs0bDJx
— Buck Sexton (@BuckSexton) February 3, 2019
It was one of the most bizarre pieces I have ever read, even for The Daily Beast. Anyone who even remotely supports Trump is evidently a racist in his eyes. A MAGA hat seen with Brady is surely what set this guy off originally back in 2015. Brady may have been friends and a golfing buddy to Trump but he has never publically supported him.
Belichick wrote a “letter” to Trump that Trump often refers to in his campaign speeches. Kraft donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration committee and got a “shout out” from Trump at the event. Kraft and Trump have since parted ways over a difference of opinion over NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem.
Why, are they also supported by the Virginia Democratic Party or something? https://t.co/7OlKJ2lbWM
— Orange Muppet Energy (@sunnyright) February 3, 2019
Social media tore Smith to shreds as they should have over this silliness. When President Trump wins a second term, look for this guy to accuse the entire nation of racism and white nationalism. He’s unhinged and needs help. But then, this is The Daily Beast we are speaking of.
