Colorado Looks To Eradicate Electoral College, Latest State To Join Movement

Published

on

Colorado has not only legalized pot, they now want to do away with the Electoral College altogether. The Colorado Senate passed a Democratic-sponsored bill that would seek to award all of Colorado’s presidential electoral votes to the winner of the national presidential popular vote.

From The Daily Wire:

“Colorado’s Senate has passed a bill to have the state award its presidential electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote.

“Democratic Sen. Mike Foote’s bill would have Colorado join 11 states and the District of Columbia in what’s called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

“It would replace the Electoral College, in which 270 electoral votes are needed to win the U.S. presidency. Compact proponents say it would go into effect once enough states with 270 votes enter the pact.”

First off, that will never happen. Second, those who don’t understand the Constitution and what our Founding Fathers intended are the ones who want to do away with the Electoral College, basically giving control to large population centers on both coasts that are Marxist-controlled strongholds.

The bill naturally passed along party lines. Now it will go to the Colorado House, which is also controlled by the Democrats. Colorado is in real trouble these days. The Democrats have been pushing for this a long, long time… but it really gained steam after President Trump beat Hillary Clinton in 2016. He won the Electoral College but not the popular vote – and even that is contested as far as I’m concerned.

Republicans aren’t pushing back hard enough on this issue. They are, in effect, asleep at the wheel over this. They have only won one national presidential popular vote — George W. Bush’s reelection in 2004 — since George H.W. Bush’s landslide victory over Michael Dukakis in 1988. During that period of time, Republicans have won two presidential elections… in 2000 and 2016 that lost the popular vote.

Our elections were meant to represent all Americans, not just huge population centers where communists congregate. If you did away with the Electoral College, New York, California, and Texas would call the elections. Texas is still conservative but it is in danger of falling to progressives as well. The Founding Fathers saw the Electoral College as one of their many structural securities against majoritarian tyranny. It’s what James Madison described in The Federalist No. 10 as the problem of “faction.”

The Electoral College ensures that sparsely populated states and cities still get a say in the election process and the left wants that stopped. The Colorado bill seeks to “essentially eliminate [the] Electoral College.” Colorado Republicans objected to the bill on the grounds that it is unconstitutional… which it is.

And finally, once again from The Daily Wire:

“The aforementioned National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, of which the Colorado bill is a part, describes itself as an “interstate compact [that] would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.”

“Insofar as the Compact is a strictly voluntary agreement among states as to how each state that is a party to the Compact individually chooses to allocate its presidential electors, the Compact should meet constitutional muster. Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution provides for state legislatures to have plenary power over allocation of their states’ electors: “Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a number of electors, equal to the whole number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress.” The Compact would have to be truly voluntary and symbolic, however, in order to escape the constrictions of the Compact Clause of the Constitution: Article I, Section 10, Clause 3.

“However, insofar as the Compact seeks to actually eliminate the Electoral College, that would be unconstitutional absent a constitutional amendment passed via the formal Article V amendment-adopting process.”

As I said, this will not happen. And if Americans were paying attention they would be up in arms over this kind of dictatorial move by the left. Colorado is not the only state doing this and we had better stop it before we lose control of our elections altogether to radical leftists.

Gotta love when Millionaire communists lecture you on what you can and can’t do. Good thing he will never be elected President!

Via The Daily Caller:

2020 candidate and self-described democratic socialist Bernie Sanders said that the United States has to stop using gasoline and coal, and that “there ain’t no middle ground” on the issue.

“It is no secret that we must transition away from fossil fuels, period. End of discussion. There ain’t no middle ground…There is no middle ground,” Sanders said during a speech Thursday in California.

The Independent Vermont senator released a climate plan Thursday modeled after the “Green New Deal” that called for $16 trillion in new spending to fight climate change.

A key part of the plan is “Justice for frontline communities,” which refers to “under-resourced groups, communities of color, Native Americans, people with disabilities, children and the elderly – to recover from, and prepare for, the climate impacts, including through a $40 billion Climate Justice Resiliency Fund.”

Sanders’ plan, which is modeled as a “Green New Deal,” also targets “environmental racism.”

“The Green New Deal must serve to address modern and historical inequities and environmental racism,” it reads.

Sanders has sought to separate himself from the field of other 2020 Democratic contenders by proposing far-left plans on a variety of issues.

On health care, Sanders supports a “Medicare for All” style plan which would eliminate private health insurance plans and give free health care to illegal immigrants. Continue Reading

Bernie Sanders Says His $16-Trillion Green New Deal-Like Plan Will Create 20 Million Jobs

Via Daily Caller:

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders introduced a $16.3-trillion plan similar to the Green New Deal on Thursday, which he says will create 20 million jobs.

The plan aims to make 100% of energy for U.S. electricity and transportation renewable by 2030 and have “complete decarbonization” by 2050, according to its outline.

“As President, Bernie Sanders will boldly embrace the moral imperative of climate change and mobilize the political will necessary for a wholesale transformation of our society, with massive investments in sustainable energy, energy efficiency, and a transformation of our transportation system,” his plan reads. Dem Rep Says We Need Illegal Immigrants To Mow ‘Our Beautiful Lawns’ – WATCH

That is some serious white supremacy right there. The Democrats racist colors always show. They can’t hide that for long…and they sure make it clear on how they love slaves.

It isn’t conservatives that are racist…it’s the Democrat party!

Via The Daily Wire:

Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-NJ) explained to his constituents earlier in the week that illegal immigrants are necessary members of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District because they are willing to take on the jobs that the community’s teenagers will no longer do.

“We have to think about the jobs because the reason this happens is because there are a lot of jobs in our community that, like it or not, for better or worse, Americans are not willing to take,” Malinowski told the crowd while appearing at a town hall meeting.

“I mean, who do you think is taking care of our seniors? Fifty percent of the eldercare workers in the state of New Jersey are immigrants, most of them legal — most of them documented — but certainly some of them are not,” he continued. “Who do you think is mowing our beautiful lawns in Somerset County? We don’t usually ask but a lot of those workers are undocumented.”

Watch:

Malinowski contended that the illegal immigrants residing in the area are able to fill the gap as teenagers who historically have been working menial jobs are now focused more on a white collar education in the technology sector.

“There just aren’t a lot of kids who — sorry — are from Montgomery High [School], who are going to be doing that full time,” the Democratic lawmaker said. “You guys are going into robotics, for goodness sake.”

Malinowski’s controversial comments come as he prepares to seek a second term in the congressional swing district. The freshman congressman, who previously served as the Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor under former President Barack Obama, successfully flipped his red district blue during the 2018 midterm elections after he edged out longtime incumbent Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ).

Four of New Jersey’s twelve House districts were won by Democrats after decades of being reliably red, including Malinowski’s newly acquired seat. Continue Reading
