AZ Gov Withdraws Financial Incentives From Nike After Kaepernick Says Flag Shoes Are Racist

Published

on

News broke earlier that Nike was recalling a line of iconic shoes meant to celebrate the Fourth of July because Colin Kaepernick took offense to the “Betsy Ross” flag with 13 stars for the 13 colonies emblazoned on the shoes. He said it hearkens back to slavery in early America. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey didn’t buy that load of horse manure and announced today that he’s withdrawing all financial incentive dollars to have Nike open a manufacturing plant in the state near Goodyear where I used to live. Good for him – nice to see a governor with some moral clarity and conviction, not to mention patriotism.

Ducey unloaded on Nike in a series of tweets stating that he was disappointed by the company’s “terrible decision.” The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Nike pulled its Air Max 1 USA, which featured a “Betsy Ross” flag after the former NFL star reached out to the firm and said the 13-star flag created during the American Revolution was offensive and carried slavery connotations. So, naturally… Nike showed they support Kaepernick and Black Lives Matter more than America and her founding. That’s just who they are these days.

“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American flag,” the company said in a statement to FOX Business. Nike did not directly address Ducey’s tweets. Nothing like hating on American history on the Fourth of July.

“Today was supposed to be a good day in Arizona, with the announcement of a major @Nike investment in Goodyear, AZ,” Ducey started out with. “Words cannot express my disappointment at this terrible decision. I am embarrassed for Nike. Nike is an iconic American brand and American company. This country, our system of government and free enterprise have allowed them to prosper and flourish,” the Arizona governor continued.

“Instead of celebrating American history the week of our nation’s independence, Nike has apparently decided that Betsy Ross is unworthy, and has bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism,” Ducey tweeted. “It is a shameful retreat for the company. American businesses should be proud of our country’s history, not abandoning it.”

From Fox Business:

“Ducey said he ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw “all financial incentive dollars” the state was going to provide for Nike to build a manufacturing plant.

“Arizona’s economy is doing just fine without Nike. We don’t need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation’s history,” the governor added. “And finally, it shouldn’t take a controversy over a shoe for our kids to know who Betsy Ross is. A founding mother. Her story should be taught in all American schools. In the meantime, it’s worth googling her.”

“The Goodyear City Council on Monday signed off on an agreement to allow Nike to build a multimillion-dollar facility in the state. The plant would add more than 500 full-time jobs in Goodyear, with employees reportedly earning an average yearly salary of $48,514, including overtime and bonuses.

“We are delighted to welcome Nike to Goodyear,” Councilwoman Wally Campbell said, according to AZ Central. “We look forward to a long-lasting relationship.”’

Well, that relationship didn’t last long and an America-hating, cop-despising, kneeling Colin Kaepernick is to blame for every bit of it. I hope Nike likes the bed they’ve made. They can wallow in it… they can even kneel on it for all I care. Nike had reportedly planned on investing $185 million to open a manufacturing facility in Goodyear. The Goodyear City Council, on Monday, “approved a package of incentives that would reimburse the company about $1 million in planning fees and about $4,000 per full-time employee Nike hires, according to city records.”

The design that was to go on those shoes was borne from the Revolutionary War in America. Nixing it is the epitome of anti-Americanism. The shoes would have sold for $140 a pop. Not all were successfully recalled – the ones that got out are going for $950 for collectors.

I’m with Governor Ducey on this… good freaking riddance to Nike. If you lay down with radicals and racists and pitch hatred towards America and what we stand for, you deserve to go out of business. And you sure aren’t wanted in Arizona.

WATCH: Nearly 80 ICE Protesters Arrested – ‘Racist Mission To Mistreat Children’

You just gotta love how the left screams that ICE is mistreating children…yet..these are the same people that murder the unborn. They don’t care about anyone. This comes down to getting votes.

Arrest every single protester and deport illegals!

Via Fox News:

Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan delivered a message Monday to the protesters who targeted a Microsoft store in New York City over the weekend to demand the tech giant cease cooperating with ICE.

Police said Saturday that 76 immigration policy protesters had been arrested at a demonstration outside Microsoft’s flagship store in midtown Manhattan.

The protesters demanded that Microsoft stop doing business with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), staging a sit-in that forced the store to close its doors early.

Responding on “Fox & Friends,” Homan called the demonstration “ridiculous,” arguing most of the protesters don’t know the facts about ICE.

“If you studied the issue, you’d thank ICE instead of vilifying them,” he said, arguing the left has gone “so far out of control on this issue” and favors “open borders.”

Homan argued that ICE has rescued thousands of children from “predators,” stopped deadly opioids from coming into the United States and fought terrorism.

“They arrested 127,000 criminals off the streets last year. Not just illegal aliens, those that committed crimes against U.S. citizens. And they want this company to stop working with us?” he asked.

In videos posted to Twitter, protesters could be seen holding signs that read, “This is the price for business with ICE.” The protest was organized by an activist group called Close the Camps NYC.

Protesters have called for the company to cancel its data processing contract with ICE, calls that were echoed by some of Microsoft’s own employees last year.

Via NY Post:

Dozens of protesters were arrested during a sit-in at Microsoft’s Midtown store over the tech giant’s handling of web services for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The NYPD said 24 men and 52 women were charged with obstructing traffic after blocking cars outside the company’s flagship shop on 5th Avenue between 53rd and 54th streets on Saturday.

“By knowingly and willingly providing technology support to ICE, Microsoft Corporation is colluding with ICE and its racist mission to tear apart families, and mistreat children,” said Andy Ratto, an organizer with Close the Camps NYC. “This is a moment of life or death for 11 million undocumented people in the United States, and we will not remain silent as American corporations profiteer from — and enable — human suffering.”

The activists slammed the tech company for making money from ICE by providing the agency with cloud services.

Video from social media shows the protesters sitting in a crosswalk and on sidewalks, chanting and holding up signs reading “No business with ICE.”

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella penned a post in June on LinkedIn, where he called ICE’s family separation policy “simply cruel and abusive.”

“I want to be clear: Microsoft is not working with the U.S. government on any projects related to separating children from their families at the border. Our current cloud engagement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is supporting legacy mail, calendar, messaging and document management workloads.”

A spokesperson for the tech company told The Post the store closed amid the protests and thanked the NYPD for its help.

NRA Files Lawsuit Against San Francisco After Supervisors Label It A ‘Terrorist Organization’

NRA members should file a lawsuit for defamation as well. Meanwhile, Antifa.. is allowed to terrorize innocent Americans.

This is yet another example of why Democrats shouldn’t ever be allowed into office. They do nothing but terrorize the American citizens on a daily basis.

Stop voting these people in!

Via The Daily Wire:

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a resolution last week declaring the nation’s most influential pro-Second Amendment advocate, the National Rifle Association (NRA), a “domestic terrorist organization” and urged the federal government to do the same. On Monday, the NRA filed a lawsuit against the far-left city for violating the organization’s free speech rights for political purposes.

In a resolution passed Tuesday, the board of supervisors “declared the National Rifle Association a domestic terrorist organization.” The City and County of San Francisco “should take every reasonable step to assess the financial and contractual relationships our vendors and contractors have with this domestic terrorist organization,” the resolution states, and they “should take every reasonable step to limit those entities who do business with the City and County of San Francisco from doing business with this domestic terrorist organization.” The resolution also states that the municipalities will “encourage all other jurisdictions, including other cities, states, and the federal government, to adopt similar positions.”

“The National Rifle Association musters its considerable wealth and organizational strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence, and the National Rifle Association spreads propaganda that misinforms and aims to deceive the public about the dangers of gun violence, and the leadership of National Rifle Association promotes extremist positions, in defiance of the views of a majority of its membership and the public, and undermine the general welfare, and the National Rifle Association through its advocacy has armed those individuals who would and have committed acts of terrorism,” the resolution charges. “All countries have violent and hateful people, but only in America do we give them ready access to assault weapons and large-capacity magazines thanks, in large part, to the National Rifle Association’s influence.”

The NRA immediately fired back, blasting the “ludicrous stunt” and calling out the city’s leaders for failing to protect its residents by allowing rampant crime and homelessness. “This ludicrous stunt by the Board of Supervisors is an effort to distract from the real problems facing San Francisco, such as rampant homelessness, drug abuse and skyrocketing petty crime, to name a few,” the NRA said in a statement reported by KTVU. “The NRA will continue working to protect the constitutional rights of all freedom-loving Americans.” Continue Reading
